The family story in wine making goes back to the early 1900s, when great grandfather Mr Kolas established at his home place, Pera Pedi village, one of the very first commercial wineries in Cyprus. Wine making in the old winery was passed down to the next generation but was discontinued in 1978, leaving the place with just memories of a bygone era. It was in 1999, when young Doros Hadjiantonas decided to take on the family tradition and begun practicing wine making as a hobby. At that time, he decided to use the harvested crop from the family vineyards in order to produce small volumes of wine for the family. The experiment proved successful and Doros begun spending hours into piles of wine books, attended a series of wine courses and came into close contact with local winemakers and oenologists. Urged by his enthusiasm and passion and a small initial investment, Doros achieved to produce in 2004 nearly 45.000 bottles of wine, mainly from his family owned vineyards. Keen to see the family name again on wine bottles, he proudly named his wine ‘Hadjiantonas’ and turned the hobby into a business.
